After I took the video, I jumped on the scale again just to see the number again and it was 185.8 lbs! I stood on it again, to see what it would say, and again it said 185.8. So what I’m gonna do is take the 185.8 lbs as my weigh-in weight because 1) it appeared more and 2) it means I lost more weight! Starting weight: 191.5 Week 1 (current weight): 185.8 (-5.7 lbs) yay me!
I weighed 137 earlier today, then I took a 3-mile walk. I didn’t eat anything, and I weighed myself again. When I got back, the scale said 140! I have an old non-digital scale but it works fine – I have tested it by weighing stuff on it that I already know the weight of, like a bag of dog food. Can you "gain" three pounds in an hour or so even after exercise? Could this be from PMS?

Apparently, I left out an important detail when I’ve talked about the N900 in anticipation of it’s arrival because Neal, my husband who is with me all the time didn’t know that the N900 is able to make phone calls. Go figure. Let’s start by looking at the industrial design. I have an iPhone 3GS here along with a Motorola Droid and the Nokia N900. The iPhone and Droid are almost exactly the same height and width. The Droid is a little thicker than the iPhone to accommodate the slider keyboard and the removable battery. The Nokia N900 is the same width as the iPhone and Droid, but its quite a bit thicker. I thought it would be fun to pull out the kitchen scale and weigh them. The iPhone is 4.7 ounces. The Droid is 5.9 ounces and the N900 is 6.4 ounces. Specs we’ve talked about, but let’s hit them again. The processor is 600MHz. There’s 1GB of application memory. It has a 3D Graphics accelerator with Open GL ES 2.0 support. It has 32G of storage out of the box and you can expand that to 48 gigs with a microSD card. The camera is 5 megapixels with a dual LED flash. The screen is 800X480, 3.5 inches diagonal and has resistive touch. The N900 has two hardware features that I hadn’t expected. It has a built-in FM transmitter for playing audio through your radio’s speakers. I had to put the phone on top of the receiver for the FM transmitter to work, but sitting on top of the receiver, it sounded really, really good. It also has what I think could be a killer feature if …
Google Tech Talk December 4, 2009 ABSTRACT Presented by Manuel Pérez-Quiñones. Personal Information Management (PIM) practices are the behaviors that we follow when we organize our information. This often includes emails, documents, bookmarks, pictures, etc. Research in PIM has identified a common set of activities that require support: encountering information, organizing information, filing/archiving, and reusing information. Different tools must provide different kinds of support for each one of these activities. PIM practices become easier if the organization provides some infrastructure to alleviate the difficulty of these activities. But a larger value is that the organization can leverage these personal practices to improve the effectiveness of others and to capture that elusive corporate knowledge in an easy way. In this talk, I will describe previous work in PIM and highlight how some of the PIM practices can be supported and leveraged from the organization point of view. Manuel A. Pérez-Quiñones is Associate Dean and Director of the Office for Graduate Recruiting and Diversity Initiatives at the Graduate School, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, and a member of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction at Virginia Tech. Pérez-Quiñones holds a DSc in Computer Science from The George Washington University. His research interests include human-computer interaction, personal information management, user interface software, digital government …
OXOs user-friendly Food Scale with Pull-Out Display is perfect for weighing all ingredients. Weigh items directly on the platform, on a plate or in a bowl, and pull the display away from the base to prevent shadowing from large plates and bowls. Accurately measure ingredients when cooking and baking and stick to a diet by weighing portions. An optional backlight makes the display easier to read and a weight indicator shows the capacity left on the Scale before maximum capacity is reached. Press the zero button to offset the weight of a container or to set the weight back to zero so you can add additional ingredients. The display features large, easy-to-read numbers which measure in 1/8-oz (imperial) and 1-g (metric) increments. The stainless steel platform can be removed for cleaning but no parts are dishwasher safe. The Scale has an 11-lb capacity and 4 AAA batteries are included.
