Can the post office put additional postage if I mis-weigh my package w/ already printed shipping label?

Posted in Kitchen Weighing Scales on February 21st, 2011 by Andrew – 2 Comments

I’m selling on ebay. I’m still new at it. I am currently using a very old antique kitchen scale to weigh my packages, but I don’t know if I can really trust it. Can I still print off the shipping labels and if it needs additional postage, they can do that for me when I get to the post office? Like let’s say I was an oz less than what it is, would they allow me to throw in the extra amount right there?
And I do print off my shipping labels right at home btw.
Do they at least void out the bad shipping label then and give you your money back? No sense in paying say .00 in shipping, only to have them tell you it’s not enough, start all over and overpay basically.

How much does dog food weigh?

Posted in Kitchen Weighing Scales on February 11th, 2011 by Andrew – 2 Comments

This is more of a task for people with a kitchen scale…

I need to know how much a cup of Pedigree weighs and how much a cup of Wellness CORE weighs…

I kind of need exact weight and any information at all would be appreciated…
I knew that there was a small chance of anyone actually having both brands and a scale… But yes, Orijen is similar to Wellness CORE so the weight of Orijen would be appreciated…

Weight of a block – archimedes question?

Posted in Kitchen Weighing Scales on January 21st, 2011 by Andrew – 1 Comment

Block A floats in a vat, 59.1% immersed in pure water. The block is a cube with one side = 0.870 m.
At the bottom of the vat is a kitchen scale.
Block B is set on block A, and the stack sinks to the bottom coming to rest on the scale. At that point, block A is 87.2% immersed, while block B is still dry. The scale reads 850 N.

What does block B weigh?

Feeding a raw diet to a puppy?

Posted in Kitchen Weighing Scales on January 10th, 2011 by Andrew – 6 Comments

I will be getting a little dachshund and I want to put it on a raw diet. I just want to know people’s experience with doing so? I’m going to start with chicken but I want to know what I should start with like wings, neck, breast, leg etc? Also, I was reading online and some people say to do 3% of the ideal adult weight for puppies and others say to do 10% so i’m not sure which direction to head with that one.

I’ve been researching the raw diet for some time now and I’ve been trying to figure out how much to exactly feed him when he becomes an adult. I did the raw food calculator and it gave me 0.22lbs for an 11 pound dog (just an estimated adult weight for now). So I was wondering exactly how much that would be for example if I fed chicken one day with bone would that be one chicken leg? I’m assuming I should invest in a kitchen scale to weigh out the meat and I know every chicken leg could weigh differently but for just an estimation could it be that. If anybody else feeds their small dogs raw it would be great if you could give me an example of what you give them also how much it costs you per month.

Also, I don’t want anybody to tell me its bad I just want answers from people who already feed raw thank you

How to convert baking recipes from by weight to by volume?

Posted in Kitchen Weighing Scales on December 6th, 2010 by Andrew – 4 Comments

Lately I’ve been delving into the wonderful world of baking, and experimenting with sourdough recipes (3 cheers for 2nd trimester of pregnancy!). Anyway, a lot of the hardcore bakers give their ingredients by weight (metric even, and I’m in USA) and I don’t have a kitchen scale. If I keep this sort of thing up, then I’ll get a scale, but for now I’m just dipping my feet in the waters while I only have one kid instead of two to distract me. How can I figure out how much of each ingredient to use? I know a cup of flour doesn’t always weigh the same, but I’d like to at least approximate…

For example, these <a href=http://sourdough.com/recipes/sourdough-croissant rel=nofollow>http://sourdough.com/recipes/sourdough-c…</a> look really yummy. How do I figure out how much of each ingredient I need? Thanks, I hope!

what is the volume (in cups) of 1 pound of pumpkin puree?

Posted in Kitchen Weighing Scales on November 13th, 2010 by Andrew – 2 Comments

Ok, so I’m making pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread. I’m cooking the pumpkins myself and pureeing the flesh instead of buying canned pumpkin. Each of my two recipes calls for a pound of pumpkin puree. I don’t have a kitchen scale, ergo I can’t weigh it out, so I was wondering the volume of a pound of pumpkin puree. How many cups will I need for each recipe? I’ve been looking online and some of the sites say 4 cups per pound while others say 2 cups per pound. I’m very confused by my research and decided to ask here. Please help!
